Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino

Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino

Oh you need to make this easy decadent treat for the chocolate lover in your life!  It’s you? You’re the chocolate lover in your life?  This double chocolate chip frappe recipe is a fraction of the cost of coffee shop frappe drinks. I love that I can whip one up in no time right from the comfort of my own kitchen, especially on a hot day. I have a confession.  This is not my recipe.  It’s my sons.  He loves to order a double chocolatey chip frappuccino at our local Starbucks, but his mean ol momma isn’t usually willing to fork over the bucks for a drink that will be consumed in five seconds!   So he used his ingenuity and figured out how to make his favorite drink at home. Now he whips up creamy chocolate beverages on a regular basis. He will even whip one up for his brother and sisters if they say please! This easy recipe is a great option if you want a treat. This copycat Starbucks drink has become one of my kiddos favorite beverages! Thanks Luke!

Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino
  • ice cubes or crushed ice
  • whole milk
  • pure vanilla extract
  • granulated sugar
  • semi sweet chocolate chips
  • chocolate sauce
  • mini chocolate chips and canned whipped cream for garnishing

On top of saving myself a few bucks I feel better about making my kiddos a fru-fru drink at home because I can control the sugar and I know I’m adding real milk which has so many great health benefits.  It’s a win win!

Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino
  • First thing, add crushed ice or ice cubes, whole milk, chocolate sauce, sugar, pure vanilla extract, and chocolate pieces to your blender. Place lid on blender pitcher, and blend on high for 1-2 minutes or until ice is all chopped up and your drink is a creamy consistency.
  • Before pouring frappe in a cup make a fancy chocolate drizzle in the bottom of the cup, then pour the frappe in the cup, give it a fancy dollop of whipped cream and sprinkle it with mini chocolate chips.

The rich flavor of this drink will knock your socks off. You might want to keep your blender out. You will be making this drink on repeat!

Double Chocolate Chip Frappuccino
  • Mochaccino: Are you ready for this? Add 1/2 teaspoon of instant coffee to the blender pitcher or if you have cold espresso on hand add a shot of it and you will have the perfect caffeinated creamy mochaccino.
  • Dairy free: Almond milk, soy, or oat milks can be substituted to make a (nearly)dairy free double chocolate chip frappuccino. The reason I say nearly is because there could be traces of dairy products in the chocolate chips and the chocolate sauce.
  • Adult beverage: Add a 1/2 shot of peppermint schnapps, kahlua, or espresso or chocolate liqueur.
  • Fancy party drinks for kids: This would be a very fun drink to whip up for the younger folks at a holiday party, sprinkle crushed candy cane on top of the whipped cream!  The perfect kid friendly holiday drink!

  1. Shiela~ I want one NOW!!! That looks so good!! I’ll have to serve these up at the Christmas Eve Open House for the kids, and the chocolate lovers, yep, that’s me. I’m thinking a splash of coffee would be mm mm good. Not for the kids though, they have enough energy for crying out loud. 🙂
