Peel, core, and slice apples. Place them in an even layer directly into 9x13 inch baking pan.
Add flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg to the bowl of food processor. Add cubed butter pulse until you have a fine crumble. Add oatmeal and pulse a few more times to incorporate oatmeal into crisp topping with out breaking down the oats too much.
Pour crisp topping over apples. Spread out in an even layer. Place in preheated oven and bake for 45 minutes.
Remove and serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

This recipe can be easily cut in half and made in a 9" pie plate or an 8x8 baking pan. Feel free to add more or less apples if you like. This recipe is very flexible and extremely hard to ruin. Fruit: You can make this same recipe with blueberries, peaches, pears, mixed berries. Frozen Fruit: If using frozen fruit you will need to bake an hour possibly longer.
