Roll dough out to a 12x18 inch rectangle.
Spread onions evenly over dough, and sprinkle with goat cheese getting cheese as evenly distributed as possible.
Roll dough from the longest side away from you, pinching the edges together when roll is complete. Give the rope of dough a slight stretch. Slice with a serrated knife in 1 1/2 inch slices.
Place slices in a lightly butter dish. Leave a little room around each roll, you need to give them room to rise. Cover with a tea towel and allow to rise in a warm spot in your kitchen. Or if you have a proof setting on your oven use your oven. Allow to almost doubled in size, approximately 1 hour.
Bake at 375 degrees for 16 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and brush with the remaining butter.
