  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 4 cups old fashioned oats
  • 1/4 cup wheat germ
  • 1/4 cup flax seed
  • 1/2 cup walnuts use whatever is your favorite or multiple types of nuts

  • 1/2 cup pepitas optional

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  • In a sauce pan on stovetop over medium low heat add butter, honey, maple syrup. Whisk together until butter has melted and ingredients are combined. Bring to a low bowl for 1 minute then turn off heat and add salt and vanilla. Whisk.
  • In a large mixing bowl combine oats, wheat germ, and flax. Toss to combine.
  • Pour granola coating over oat mixture in large bowl, using a spatula stir to combine making all of the oats are covered in coating. Pour out on to parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Place in preheated oven and bake for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and move around on the sheet pan breaking granola up a bit. Return to oven and bake another 15 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and add nuts, dried fruit, and pepitas. Toss to mix
    * the reason I do not add these in when I make the granola is because the nuts will burn and the dried fruit gets really tough
  • Let cool on pan and store in an airtight container.
