Equipment

  • 1 3 quart saucepan
  • 1 8x8 baking pan
  • parchment paper

Ingredients
  

  • 8 tbsp butter
  • 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate if you don't have you can use cocoa and oil see the side of the cocoa container for directions
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 whole eggs

Instructions
 

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. LIne baking pan with parchment paper and lightly butter an corners that the parchment doesn't cover.

  • Crack eggs into a small dish and whisk them with a fork. Set aside.
  • Add butter and unsweetened chocolate squares to sauce pan, stir it as it melts to combine. Cook over medium low heat.
  • When butter is melted add sugar and stir. Mixture will be grainy, stir until all ingredients are melted and incorporated. Add vanilla. Stir.
  • Still over heat add flour, baking powder, and salt. Whisk to combine. Remove from heat, quickly add eggs stir them in until brownie batter is smooth and glossy. Pour into prepared pan and bake at 375° for 20 minutes or until toothpick comes out of middle clean.

Notes

Baking brownies:  I prefer to under bake my brownies, because I like them chewy and gooey.  If you remove brownies from oven, and leave them in pan they will continue to bake.  When ready lift up on the parchment paper to lift brownies out of pan onto a cutting board.  Cut them into 9 equal pieces. Enjoy!
